Thimerosal is used as a preservative in vaccines. Thimerosal contains methylmercury.

Thimerosal vaccines contain approximately 12.5 to 25 micrograms methylmercury per injection.

The mercury-resistant barrier of the intestinal mucosa is thereby skipped.

Methylmercury can thus be distributed undisturbed through the rest of the body and exert its harmful effect there.
